You Deserve a Better Place?
This got me curious about the term and the category of people who fall under it. To know more about this term and to know more about this culture, I ask him the details. He, without getting offended, told me everything in detail.
He said that he was impressed by my non-biased thought process and welcoming nature towards people of different orientations.
He said and I quote “Venu you deserve a better place than Kurukshetra... “
And as a deep thinker, I started asking myself a question “DO I”?
His statement clearly meant his attitude and judgement towards people of Kurukshetra as: they were not broad-minded (or at least he thought so). But even if he were correct, was the statement justified?
This thought kept my mind busy and served as fodder for it (mind) to graze on for the next couple of days...
The question which struck me really hard was: “Do people with broader intellect deserve a better place?”
Then, one fine day while in the shower, listening to the Immigrant Song which plays during the final battle in Thor Ragnarok, a thought struck my mind.
What if the reality is quite the opposite?
“The city deserves people with bigger-better-broader thinking and perspectives,”
It was clear as a day then, it is not a location that defines a place, but the people living in it.
This thought originated due to the Immigrant Song because at that point in the movie ,Thor interacts with Odin and Odin tells Thor: “It is not the place, but the people who make the kingdom. Asgard is where it’s people reside.
It is a resident’s duty to be good in order to make a society good.
We observe this pattern in schools too. The academic level of the whole class is measured by the genius of its flagship student.
We Don’t say to those genius students that you deserve a better place than this class. Instead, we encourage the average student to compete with the flag bearer and become better than him.
So why can’t we all be flagships?
Society’s thinking is the mere mirror image of the thinking of people living in it.
Conclusion: If you want to have a change, be the change...
