Little Hearts

Well, we all have been through situations, where we give our heart to a person in the most wholesome manner and that person breaks our heart (for a dramatic touch, let’s say into a million pieces). That heart is left broken into too many pieces, some big, some small. Then we roam around carrying those irreparably broken pieces with us and not trusting anyone with our heart again.

You know what we can do with them (the broken pieces)?

We can use those pieces as a currency, to trade love and reciprocation. That broken heart currency can be used for investing in old forgotten friends, new people and sometimes strangers. Just like we used to play Trump Cards (trading cards) in our childhood, we can exchange broken heart pieces, with people, having better characteristics in some areas and lacking some areas (which we may have in abundance) and vice versa. We start the trade with these new people with small pieces, investing time, slowly opening up our comfort zones. Just like real investors, we sometimes fail to use our currency most efficiently and suffer temporary setbacks, but with every failure, we learn new ways of how/where not to invest. Eventually, we start getting good deals, we sort of make new small hearts from the debris of that original heart.

You know the best part about these new hearts?

These hearts have been formed after making conscious and well-informed decisions, after testing out in shallow waters first, then into deeper waters. Also, you can make different miniature hearts with different people by collaborating and exchanging the missing pieces. You can even have different friends for different interests. So structurally speaking, you will have more mini hearts that are equally potent (sometimes even more potent) as your original big heart and these hearts are stronger, more durable and dependable. Your old heart was too complicated and had a variety of interests and expectations for one person to handle and fulfill your requirements. Now, you are aware of the composition of this new heart. Why it exists in the first place and why you want to keep it. This heart has been formed in the times when you had given up and refused to open up, in total chaos. And just like Little Finger once said, “Chaos is a Ladder”. You can rest assure that it will withstand the waves of time and bad events.

You know what these little heart pieces are? And how you can start this trade?

These are just little gestures of kindness and compassion. For starters, these can be as small as texting someone good morning or as big as telling them how grateful you are for their existence through a letter or by making them something thoughtful. These transactions can be of helping them or just being there for them in their hard times. Compassion is underrated. In the beginning, you treat people how you want yourself to be treated and then you treat them like they treat you.

Love is not dissolved; it is just redistributed.
